Six reasons institutions choose Empower

Your brand, not Bloomberg’s

Visitors engage inside the Bloomberg app — not your institution's own environment. For institutions building a distinct digital identity, that's a meaningful trade-off.

Data you can actually use

Bloomberg partners see view and play counts. Pladia's Console Dashboard shows estimated unique users, how visitors discovered each object, what they saved, and media completion.

Most visitors won’t download an app

Research across 175 museum audio guide apps found just 2.47% of visitors download and use them. Empower is PWA-first: one QR scan, immediate access, no friction.

Network effect helps discovery, not on-site engagement

Bloomberg's 7.5M+ user base is a genuine advantage for pre-visit discoverability. But most visitors in your gallery right now have never heard of Bloomberg Connects — and for them, the fewest steps wins.

Free isn’t always free

Bloomberg's philanthropic model is impressive — but if visitors are freezing on load screens, re-entering codes after every artwork, and navigating an interface built for home browsing, the cost shows up somewhere else. Free to your institution isn't the same as frictionless for your visitors.

You can see where the product is going

Pladia maintains a public product roadmap — institutions can see what's being built and feed into priorities. Bloomberg Connects development is managed entirely by Bloomberg's internal team, with no visibility into what's coming or when.

Real app store reviews of Bloomberg Connects

Jan 7, 2026

"bad navigation, needs more fluid transitions from entry to entry... it feels like the developers have never used it to actually move through an exhibit. At every documented piece, the user must enter a multi digit code or pan/click a drawing of the facility. Click play. Go back to the previous screen and hop around within the app."

Google Play

"The use case of this app is very frequently pulling your phone from your pocket and quickly accessing information. QUICKLY is the important word, but it fails at that. First, every time I open the app, it freezes for 5–10 seconds... if I'm at artwork #405 and need to get to #406 which is right next to it, there should obviously be a button to do that, right? Nope. I have to back out, and input 406. FOR EVERY SINGLE ARTWORK."
